Kwankwaso's political strength is only confined to Kano state

Kwankwaso is fully aware that his political strength is overwhelmingly confined to Kano State, where he secured 1,276,987 votes out of his nationwide total of 1,496,687, roughly 85% of all his votes. Outside Kano, his electoral relevance diminishes sharply, even across the northern region.

In the North, his numbers were modest:

Katsina – 69,386

Bauchi – 72,103

Jigawa – 41,390

Gombe – 26,160

Niger – 21,836

Kaduna – 10,519

Kebbi – 10,682

Other northern states like Sokoto, Zamfara, Yobe, Borno, etc., yielded votes under 10,000 each.

This data makes one thing clear: Kwankwaso's political movement is not national. His influence is deeply regional and heavily dependent on Kano alone.

Defecting to the APC, especially under Tinubu, whom his base views with strong disdain would be a fatal political move. It would be seen as betrayal, and likely lead to the collapse of his only solid support base. Kwankwaso understands this reality well, which is why he remains extremely cautious.
